What is the difference between PBX and VoIP?
PBX vs VoIP
Private Branch Exchange (PBX) is a private telephone network over copper lines. Typically, PBX systems are specifically designed and inflexible. PBX is confined to a maximum number of external lines (trunks) and internal telephone extensions. This is why older telephone system are virtually impossible to upgrade.
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) delivers voice over the Internet. This technology allows you to receive and make calls from VoIP phones, applications from your computer and your cell phone. Typically, a phone server is hosted in the cloud and additional phones can be provisioned as needed.
